Abstract

Australian technology company H2H Energy has announced plans to manufacture hydrogen refuelling stations in Tasmania.

H2H has partnered with local firms Prowire Group and TAS Hydraulics to build its first station in Ulverstone next year.

The consortium is aiming to leverage local skills, make Ulverstone a clean energy hub, and support the Tasmanian state’s transition to hydrogen-powered transport.

Last month, H2H took part in the first hydrogen-powered public transport trial in Hobart.

Three hydrogen buses delivered by Foton Mobility Distribution were rolled out in the city, with hydrogen supplied from Blue Economy’s small-scale hydrogen facility.

As part of the new initiative, Prowire will handle electrical systems, TAS Hydraulics will manage the hydraulics, with H2H driving design and deployment.

“This is about bringing hydrogen refuelling capability to my home state of Tasmania,” explained Cranston Polson, H2H Energy Founder and CEO.

“By tapping into the skills and quality of local firms, we can manufacture our proven designs here, while continuing to focus on research and deployment.”

According to GWGI data, Tasmania has an additional four hydrogen refuelling facilities planned or under construction.

The emerging network reflects Tasmania’s commitment to hydrogen mobility, with public transport and fleet operators positioned as the first movers.

H2H Energy already has eight hydrogen refuelling systems in operation across Australia and has recently secured a ninth order.
