Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has officially launched the “Green Hydrogen Valley–Amaravati Declaration,” setting forth a bold vision to make the state a global hub for green hydrogen production by 2030. The declaration was unveiled during the inaugural Green Hydrogen Summit held at SRM University–AP in Amaravati.
In his address, CM Naidu emphasized the state’s intent to lead India’s clean energy future. “Andhra Pradesh will become the first Green Hydrogen Valley in the country,” he announced, highlighting the state’s unique blend of renewable energy potential, coastal advantage, and growing industrial base.
The declaration outlines clear targets: 2 GW of electrolyser manufacturing capacity by 2027, ramping up to 5 GW by 2029; and green hydrogen production reaching 1.5 million metric tonnes annually by 2029. The initiative is also expected to reduce the cost of hydrogen from ₹460/kg to ₹160/kg, making it globally competitive.
A Green Energy Corridor of 25 GW capacity will support transmission, while a ₹500 crore innovation fund will drive research and attract clean tech startups. The state also aims for 60% domestic manufacturing of electrolysers and green hydrogen components by 2030. SRM University–AP will serve as the designated research hub for the project.
National and global stakeholders, including NITI Aayog’s V.K. Saraswat and Union Minister Chandra Sekhar Pemmasani, lauded the declaration as a model aligned with India’s National Hydrogen Mission.
With its roadmap, Andhra Pradesh is poised to become a leader in green hydrogen, supporting job creation, industrial growth, and a sustainable energy future.
